From the color lines, ALMA de LUCE® designs the luxurious COSTA NOVA armchair piece that inspires us in the creative simplicity of Portuguese fishermen. There is something inherently natural and superb, in the haystacks, when we feel the colors that appear aligned side by side, that carry us, in full fascination, to sumptuous and rich environments.
It was the fishermen who settled in Costa Nova (Aveiro city, Portugal), in the middle of the 19th century, a place, uninhabited until then, where they built the haystacks. For practical reasons, they were built to hold fishing nets and other fishing materials, originally painted in shades of ocher red and black.
Later, by the end of the century, when it became fashionable to sunbathing in the sea and with the change of the families of the fishermen to this zone, to live, the haystacks gained a new life. The facades were painted with colorful stripes and their interiors were remodeled with the necessary divisions.
The haystacks were passed from generation to generation, but keeping the stripes colored, creating a unique environment that makes this a place unrepeatable in the Portuguese landscape.
