The House of Wisdom was a library and translation center in Bagdad during the Abassid dynasty, between centuries IX and XII of the Christian Era. Considered the major intellectual center, during the Islamic Golden Age, has been destroyed in 1258 over the Mongol invasion - Siege of Baghdad. Some voices say that the water of the Tigris river turned black, because of the big quantity of ink originating of the books thrown to the river.
