ALMA de LUCE® presents us the JABU pieces made of noble materials, which tells us this World Heritage in an elegant and contemporary way.
Jabu: The traditional house of the Batak Toba people in Indonesia, an vernacular architecture. Is an architectural style that is designed based on local needs, availability of construction materials and reflecting local traditions.
The original Toba houses were large communal houses, a way of living which is very rare today. Jabu are now generally single-family dwellings. There are not many of them left and not many new ones are being built. As a result of these moves, a tremendous amount of architectural and cultural knowledge is being lost.
